What makes happiness in your home?

Unnecessary items in our home are something we all experience, even minimalists (though they’d rarely admit it!). It is even true for this organiser; I just love stationery, so my collection of notebooks is way too many for anyone to use in a lifetime. I could easily spout messages such as ‘get rid of everything’ and your home will feel amazing. But in actual truth it’s the little details like the gorgeous vase that just had to come home with you, the armchair that reminds you of your loveliest aunt, or the group of seashells collected from beachcombing with the family, that turns a house into a home that’s just perfect for you.

We are all so vastly different, but two things need to be considered when creating that perfect home for you and yours. They are the functional items needed to make life happen, and the belongings that purely bring happiness to your lives. So it is not a matter of throwing everything out in order to create a calm, effective home (I hear all the maximalists shout ‘Hooray!’ at this statement.) but getting clear about what you need to make life both successful and beautiful.

As a professional organiser, the most common client projects I am asked to work on are where their homes are out of sync with their lifestyle. Clients reach out when their home is not the calm place they want to come home at the end of a busy day, it is not the space that actively supports their life’s ambitions, and on this list might be simple things like finding that damn daycare bag or the missing car keys for the seven hundredth time this week.

People’s discontent with their home is generally not about their choice of throw cushions, or food storage containers – if this was the case I would have remained solely as an interior designer. It can simply come down to not feeling like their homes are set up for having friends over or for doing an impromptu trip to the beach on a beautiful day.

Enter the intentional living philosophy, which is the cornerstone to Beautifully Sorted. We are not a ‘hire a skip bin and empty your home into it kind of a business’. We don’t just tidy and clean your home, so it looks great for a week. We don’t pump through projects using the same cookie cutter approach to everyone. But what we do is get to know you, your family members, and all those people who affect your home like nannies, grandparents and carers.

Our goal is to understand what it is about your home that has never worked, and what is not serving your lifestyle. We want to understand what a typical week looks like, what ambitions you always imagined using your home for. This might include entertaining, a space to workout, a spot to garden, a reading nook for those avid readers. Your home needs to factor in those values and goals for raising your family. Beautifully Sorted is the perfect solution to making these lifestyle dreams a reality.

Key concept: Surrounding yourself with things that are beautiful &/or add function to your life.

Beautifully Sorted is a home organising studio, based in Newcastle, NSW. We wear two hats for most clients – professional organising and interior design. - We are eco conscious - we believe in the ‘buy once, buy quality, and store well’ model of belonging ownership.

- We go to great lengths to discover what a perfect homelife looks like for each individual family.
- We want to know what your design aesthetic is – clean and minimal, warm and inviting, functional and realistic, or 5-star hotel elegance.
- We will build spaces and routines to make those long-held lifestyle goals a reality.

The ultimate goal for most, if not all house buying/renovation goals is that your home will help us live calmer, happier and more fulfilling, intentional lives. This is Beautifully Sorted’s goal for your home too.
